We are currently recruiting for an experienced Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist to join a leading private hospital, delivering high-quality occupational therapy services within an acute adult inpatient setting.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing patients, delivering evidence-based rehabilitation and facilitating safe, effective discharge planning to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload of adult inpatients across acute medical, surgical and orthopaedic wards.
- Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive and environmental assessments.
- Develop and implement individualised rehabilitation programmes that maximise independence and promote functional recovery.
- Assess patients' ability to safely return home or transition to the most appropriate discharge destination.
- Recommend appropriate equipment, assistive devices and discharge support to facilitate safe discharge.
- Complete moving and handling assessments and provide education to patients, families and ward staff.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, consultants, nursing staff, discharge coordinators and other allied health professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, case discussions and discharge planning meetings.
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy interventions in accordance with professional standards and best practice.
- Maintain accurate, timely and professional clinical documentation in accordance with HCPC standards and hospital policies.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the rehabilitation and discharge process.
- Supervise and support junior Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants and students where appropriate.
- Participate in clinical governance activities, audit, quality improvement projects and ongoing service development.
- Contribute to maintaining exceptional standards of patient safety, quality of care and patient experience.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC registration.
- Previous experience working within an acute adult inpatient setting.
- Experience managing patients across medical, surgical and/or orthopaedic specialities.
- Excellent knowledge of rehabilitation principles and discharge planning.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding patient-centred services.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience within a private hospital environment.
- Experience within Orthopaedics, General Surgery, General Medicine, Elderly Care, Neurology, Stroke, Oncology, Respiratory or Critical Care.
- Experience supervising junior staff or students.
- Participation in clinical audit, governance or quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of community rehabilitation pathways and post-discharge services.
